Woolly jumpers

Tuesday, 1 June 2004

The BBC is reporting that a British woman, Paula Ward, has won an award for a device which stops certain numbers being dialled and so stops her 11 year old daughter connecting to the Internet and using inappropriate chat rooms. At least I think that’s what it does but the report is not all that clear.

If this, or something similar, is what the device does then isn’t there a simpler solution? Why doesn’t Ms Ward simply password protect her Internet application? Well, I know why Ms Ward doesn’t. Her device is on sale for 30 but why wouldn’t anyone else just use a password?

Am I missing something here or do I see someone trying to pull a large woolly jumper over my eyes?
